Mari Ann Allan:
My passion is mountain architecture and I am very excited about the opportunity to provide the design for your project. I have been continuously employed in this field since 1987 following completion of a 4-year Architectural Technology program. I am currently residing and operating from Canmore, Alberta in the beautiful Bow Valley of the Canadian Rocky Mountains. Having lived here for over 18 years, I draw much of my creative inspiration from the amazing environment that surrounds me.
Work Experience:
My career of more than 20 years, has offered me valuable experiences in many aspects of the architectural design field. From single family homes to hotel renovations, ski lodge developments, and restaurant designs, my experiences have provided me with a broad range of design insights relating to many different types of developments.
My career began with 5 years employment in large architectural firms in Victoria, BC and Kitchener, Ontario where my duties included construction drawings for hotel and commercial developments, apartment buildings, community centres, senior's centres, townhouses and single family homes. After being promoted to Project Manager, my duties expanded to consultant co-ordination, on site review / inspections / instructions to Contractors, contract administration of Contractor / Client contracts, processing change orders, and approving Contractor's draws.
After moving to the Bow Valley, I expanded my knowledge and understanding of building science, construction materials and methods with 3 years employment at a major structural engineering firm. My duties there also included architectural design for homes and commercial projects. I then continued to develop my design / project management skills during 5 years of employment as senior architectural designer / technologist with an architectural / interior design firm in Canmore.
Education:
Architectural Technology, Fanshawe College, London, Ontario. 4 year co-op program.
Subsequent courses include Building Code & Safety Codes Council courses, Built Green Certificate, and Feng Shui studies.
Personal Interests and Volunteer Initiatives:
Gardening, hiking, skiing, Meals on Wheels (FCSS), Driver for senior's medical appointments (FCSS), Canmore United Soccer Association Team Manager.
